Community Development
Neighbourhood
Welcome to Safer Futures! We are a non profit organization that works with people in the Cowichan Valley to create communities that are safe, healthy and offer equal opportunites for a good life. Our two main roles are community development and research. We are a program of the Cowichan Women Against Violence Society.
Our Goal:
To see that people – no matter what their age, race, gender, income, sexuality or mental and physcial ability – feel free to take an active part in their neighbourhoods. To do this, we help community residents plan for healthy and safe communities.
Partnerships:
We do not work alone. We connect with many organizations, agencies and governments both here in the Cowichan Valley and beyond. Some of these include planners, schools, churches, RCMP, child care and family agencies etc. We also work with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Women and Cities, International, Vancouver Island Health Authority, Social Planning Cowichan, Cowichan Women Against Violence, Canadian Mental Health Association.
